Group Debate on “Demonetization Drive” Feb , 2017

On 4, Feb., 2017 MERI Professional & Law Institute has organized a Group debate on “Demonetization Drive” for the students of B.A LLB and BBA LLB at its beautiful campus in Sampla ,Haryana. More than 40 students and faculties took an active participation in this debate. Our Director General Prof. Dr S.P Singh Ex Vice chancellor of Lucknow university himself was part of that debate and has shared wonderful information regarding the demonetization drive which happened after 8TH nov 2016 last year.
Students of MERI Law college have shared very important and valid points in favor as well as against the motion viz. curbing of black money, stopping flow of fake currency & terrorist funding, promoting a new India by way of digitization and also checking tax evasion were the benefits out of this drive but on the other hand debaters argued against this drive on some of the very key points vis. Accountability for loss of life of common man, loss of jobs, financial loss to small businessmen and hawkers and forecast of downgrading economic growth. The debate also discussed about the main enemies of the nation because of whom this demonetization drive was less effective and group came to conclusion that following four class of people have tried to fail this drive viz. Big real estate builders,corrupt banking officers, corrupt jewelers, and some political parties who are not within the ambit of RTI .
The debate was very healthy in nature and vital information was shared and discussed about this latest and current demonetization drive which happened in our country. Finally each group leader was asked to conclude the debate and it was concluded that the demonetisation drive was less effective due to actions of some corrupt persons stated above.
Judges present at the event were Dr A.Tiwari, Prof. Amit kumar, Prof. Manish Dalal. They unanimously judged best speaker award to Mr Tacho and Mr Pradeep who were awarded with certificates and cash reward by the Director General MERI – PLI. The mediators at the event were Prof. A.K. Shukla and Prof. A.K. Singh. Over all it was a wonderful day for Meri law college as many scholars and students as well as faculties have participated and shared their precious views on Demonetisation.
