A doctorate holder in Law and Governance, her scholarly work stands firmly anchored in the ideals of constitutional morality, gender justice, and progressive jurisprudence. She is presently serving as the Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor in the Department of Law at MERI Professional and Law Institute, where she continues to shape future legal professionals through academic rigor, ethical grounding, and experiential learning.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Dr. Markan\u2019s academic credentials reflect exceptional interdisciplinary depth. She holds a Ph.D. in Law and Governance, an LL.M. in Business Law (2015), a B.A. LL.B. from GGSIPU (2014), a B.Ed. in English and Social Science, along with certified specialization in Intellectual Property Rights and Cyber Law from the Indian Law Institute. With more than 10 years of rich and diversified teaching experience, she brings a rare blend of doctrinal clarity, practical exposure, and research-driven pedagogy to the classroom.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>A prolific researcher and thought leader, Dr. Markan has authored and presented a substantial number of research papers at national and international platforms, with several publications featured in prestigious UGC CARE and Scopus-indexed journals. Her research interests span gender justice, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, cyber law, cryptocurrency regulation, artificial intelligence and law, climate justice, women\u2019s rights, and contemporary constitutional developments. Her doctoral research critically examined the legitimacy, persistence, and correctional framework of gender bias in law, offering structured solutions toward achieving substantive gender justice.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Beyond academics, Dr. Markan has rendered exemplary service in academic administration and student governance. She has held key leadership roles as Head of the Alumni Committee, Cultural Committee, and Fashion Club, and currently leads the Legal Aid Society and Moot Court Society. Under her leadership, numerous intra-college and national-level initiatives\u2014including Moot Court Competitions, Client Counselling Quests, Law Fests, Faculty Development Programs, Seminars, and Awareness Drives\u2014have been executed with exceptional organizational excellence and institutional impact.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Her contribution to the legal fraternity extends into the domain of adjudication and professional mentoring. She has served as a judge for multiple Moot Court, Mediation, Arbitration, Negotiation, and Client Counselling Competitions at national and international levels, including reputed events hosted by leading National Law Universities and professional legal bodies. She is also a frequent resource person and invited speaker at seminars and academic conclaves, where she delivers expert deliberations on comparative criminal law reforms, gender equality, human rights, artificial intelligence, and evolving legal frameworks.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>In recognition of her multifaceted excellence, Dr. Markan has been conferred the prestigious distinction of \u201cMost Versatile Member of the College,\u201d a reflection of her outstanding leadership, adaptability, academic dedication, and institutional service.
