Fashion Society of MERI – ‘LA FINURA’

With MERI’s tradition of eminence and prolonged adherence to conferring new direction to inventiveness and creativity, we strive to create lively and zestful clubs and societies, where the focus is on inclusive development and experience.

To nurture a sense of belongingness amongst the students, MERI launched its Fashion Society ‘La Finura’ (Excellence in Style) under the guidance of Shri I.P. Aggarwal, President, MERI Group of Institutions, Prof. Lalit Aggarwal, Vice President , MERI Group of Institutions, Mr. S.K. Agarwal, CFO , MERI, Prof. A.K Aggarwal, Dean, MERI.

The Fashion Society of MERI ‘La Finura’ is the youngest club of MERI Group. It is launched with the goal of sustainable fashion will create a system to substantiate human impact on the environment and social responsibility. This society will further enable students to advance in their individual and career goals pertaining to fashion industry.

We thank our management for giving us an excellent platform where we can exhibit our skills, talent and team work to strengthen our personalities and careers.

Fashionista 2024 event

The fashionista 2024 event , organized by La Finura Fashion Club at MERI college on February 29th, 2024, brought together a vibrant display of innovation styles and trendsetting creativity. Amongst the distinguished guests was Ms Richa Kumar, Lead Cabin Attendant at Indigo Airlines, whose notable expertise in aesthetics and presentation added a unique perception, setting the stage for a day of inspiration and celebration. Standout performances , such as the one titled by a team titled “Beyond the Bars”, captured the audience’s attention with their powerful representation of body shaming , highlighting the event’s commitment to addressing important societal issues through fashion.

Shaping Success: Crafting Your Professional Image

Tha La Finaura Club organised a session on Shaping Success: Crafting Your Professional Image by Ms Aarti Sharma, Founder 360 Degree Image Makeover. Dr. Nisha Singh, Training and Placement Officer, IP university also graced the event with her presence to motivate our students.

Creative Fashion With Waste:

Fashion society of MERI-LA Finura organized a virtual competition “creative fashion with waste”. Students from various departments participated and made designs from variety of household waste material- newspaper, beads, old jeans, leafs, plastic, cotton, tissue paper and many more. Creatives which were highlighted various interesting and intriguing concepts like  like wedding attires, increasing plastic, diminishing aquatic life, tribal wear, traditional jewellery, modern and fierce woman, etc.

Winners of the competition were:

Priya Grover, BBA 2018-2021, MERI – 1st Position

2. Varsha, BBA, 2019-2022, MERI – 2nd Position

3. Rachna Mishra, BBA 2019-2022, MERI- 3rd Position

 The event was a huge success as students participated enthusiastically portrayed their aesthetic and creative skills.

Fashionista 2k19

La Finura organized its first event Fashionista 2K19 and launched its logo on 2nd November 2019.  Fashionista 2K19 gave a platform to the students from various streams to showcase their creativity, confidence and presentation skills. The main aim of this event was to keep the students abreast with the latest fashion trends and to provide them exposure. The main highlights of the event were: Fashion Walk – Fashion Contest 2K19 and Mr Fashionista/Ms. Fashionista.

Students from different courses participated in the contest and displayed exemplary fashion on hard hitting themes. Around seven teams from various courses like BBA, MBA, MCA, PGDM, BTech, BA (J&MC) and law contested for the event. The Fashion contest was judged by our Alumnus from different batches – Priyanka R Kohli (PGDM 2008-10) (Makeup Artist), Deepankar Kalra (MBA 2016-18) (Actor- Documentaries) and Abhishek Rajput(MBA 2016-18) (Entrepreneur and owner of The Muscle House Gym). Teams were judged on the following parameters – Theme Selection, Costume Selection, Fashion Walk & Style, Creativity and Props and Choreography and Presentation. Fashionista 2K19 witnessed bold themes like Say no to drugs, Fake Feminism, LGBT, Save Girl Child, Greek Gods, Good Vs Evil and many more. The event was one of the most spectacular and glamorous events of this semester.

The winners of the event were:

Mr. Fashionista2K19 – Gaurav Joshi, BA(J&MC), Ist Semester

Ms. Fashionista 2k19 – Riya Taneja, BBA (GGSIPU), Vth Semester

The First Position was bagged by the team Show Stoppers from BA(J&MC) department who displayed fashion on LGBT .

The Best Theme award went to Biasness Killers from BBA (GGSIPU) department for their extraordinary theme Fake Feminism.

Overall the event was a huge success. Moroever, it was a huge learning experience for the students. The sponsors of the event were Muskan Jewellers. The Awards and Costumes were sponsored by costumes 360 owned by Aman Upadhyaya MBA Batch 2018-2020. The makeup partner for the event was Ms. Aanya Chauhan MBA Batch 2018-2020 owner of Glammed by Aanya Makeovers.
