Dr. Neha Shivani
With more than ten years of experience teaching in higher education and conducting scholarly research, Dr. Neha Shivani is a skilled economist, academic, and researcher. Her doctoral research on “Issues Encountered by Women Working in the IT Sector: A Case Study of Delhi NCR” was the focus of her 2017 Ph.D. in Economics from the Center for Studies in Economics and Planning, Central University of Gujarat. Gender, labor markets, and institutional dynamics in modern India are highlighted in her work.
Additionally, Dr. Shivani has a First Class M.Phil. in Economics, a First Class MA in Economics, and a UGC-NET (2012) qualification. She has professional certifications in computer applications, education (B.Ed.), and statistical techniques to supplement her academic background.
She has served in several reputable public institutions across India, including Government Commerce College (Gandhinagar), Government Arts College (Ahmedabad), Diu College, and Smt. S.R.M. Arts College under Gujarat Government’s Grant-in-Aid scheme. In 2017, she qualified for the Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) as a Gazetted Officer for the post of Assistant Professor in Economics. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor at MERI College, Janakpuri, Delhi, affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), where she has been teaching since January 2021.
Dr. Shivani has made significant scholarly contributions with 15+ research publications in UGC-listed and peer-reviewed journals as well as edited volumes. Her research areas include gender studies, labour economics, tourism economics, service-sector development, consumer behaviour. Her recent works examine women’s career growth in IT, online consumer behaviour, banking sector crises, and tourism-led urban development.
An active participant in academic forums, Dr. Shivani has presented papers at multiple international and national conferences hosted by institutions such as IRM Anand, IIT Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia, NM College Mumbai, IIFT Delhi, National Institute of Rural Development (Hyderabad), and others. She has also completed numerous faculty development programs and research workshops at organizations including BHU (UNESCO Chair), V. V. Giri National Labour Institute, Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat, MERI College, and Karpagam Academy, with training in qualitative research methods, gender studies, migration, youth employability, outcome-based education, and NEP 2020 implementation.
In addition to her academic achievements, Dr. Shivani continues to participate in extracurricular activities like basketball and has won the Javelin Throw and Shot Put competitions at the Central University of Gujarat during her M.Phil program.
